Hayleigh & Matt’s wedding at Thorpe Garden was a reminder that winter weddings can be every bit as warm and full of life as any summer celebration. Set in the heart of Staffordshire, Thorpe Garden gave them the perfect backdrop for a day filled with emotion, laughter, and unforgettable moments.

With around 100 of their closest friends and family, Hayleigh & Matt created a day that felt relaxed but meaningful — just like them.

Bridal Preparations — Joy, Emotion and a Bit of Fun

Hayleigh’s morning started in the best way — relaxed, emotional, and full of laughter. Surrounded by her closest friends and family, the atmosphere felt warm and easy-going.

The bridal suite quickly filled with laughter as Hayleigh and her bridesmaids toasted the day ahead in matching satin pyjamas and feather-trimmed robes. One of my favourite moments was Hayleigh jumping into the bath, glass of bubbly in hand, without a care in the world. These little moments are what make wedding photography feel honest and personal.

The mood shifted gently as it was time for Hayleigh to get into her dress. There was a quiet pause as her mum helped with the buttons on the back of her gown, revealing the delicate lace details. Hayleigh carefully put on her jewellery — a pearl bracelet, sparkling earrings, and a stunning tiara.
I loved how Hayleigh added her own touch of fun to the morning. While everything looked elegant and classic, her trusty trainers sat ready on the side, reminding everyone that comfort would be key on the dance floor later.

Groomsmen Getting Ready and a Show-Stopping Car Collection

The morning for Matt and his groomsmen was just as relaxed and full of character as the rest of the day. Suits in hand, the boys arrived at Thorpe Garden, carrying garment bags and looking ready for action. There were no nerves in sight, only smiles and a bit of playful banter.

An Emotional Ceremony in the Yurt

The ceremony took place inside Thorpe Garden’s Yurt, which gave everyone shelter from the cold February weather while still feeling bright and open. The atmosphere was intimate and emotional from the start. Hayleigh & Matt’s heartfelt vows had guests wiping away tears and holding each other close.

After the ceremony, we braved the cold for some relaxed couple portraits. We kept things simple — short bursts outside so they could warm up in between. The wind gave Hayleigh’s veil a life of its own, adding a bit of fun and movement to the photos.

The afternoon stayed relaxed and easygoing. Guests enjoyed drinks, chatted by the fires, and soaked up the cosy winter atmosphere. The tipi looked especially inviting with fairy lights, warm tones, and plenty of space for everyone to gather.

Before the party kicked off properly, Hayleigh & Matt stepped outside again for a sparkler exit. Sparkler photos are a favourite of mine, especially at winter weddings. They light up the night and always bring genuine reactions from the couple and guests. Their friends did a great job keeping them lit despite the wind, and the result was a set of fun, natural photos full of smiles and cheers.

About Thorpe Garden Wedding Venue

Thorpe Garden is a countryside wedding venue just outside Tamworth in Staffordshire. It’s perfect if you want a relaxed, festival-style wedding with plenty of space to make it your own. Like Shustoke Barn and Grangefields, it’s part of the Cripps family of venues and shares the same attention to detail and character.
You can hold your ceremony in the brick barn, the large yurt, or outside on the lawn. The barn and gardens are great for your drinks reception, while the wedding breakfast usually takes place in the yurt, which later turns into the evening party space.
